Does a billiard orbit determine its (polygonal) table?
We introduce a new equivalence relation on the set of all polygonal billiards. We say that two billiards (or polygons) are order equivalent if each of the billiards has an orbit whose footpoints are dense in the boundary and the two sequences of footpoints of these orbits have the same combinatorial order. We study this equivalence relation with additional regularity conditions on the orbit.
متن کاملThe Character Table of an Eight - Dimensional Orthogonal Group
This paper describes the calculation of the character table of the 8-dimensional orthogonal group of maximal index over the field with 3 elements. The group is of interest as it is a subgroup of relatively small index in the sporadic simple group M(23) defined by B. Fischer [2]. The group also has an outer automorphism group of order 24, isomorphic to the symmetric group on 4 symbols.
متن کاملThe Fischer-Clifford matrices and character table of the maximal subgroup $2^9{:}(L_3(4){:}S_3)$ of $U_6(2){:}S_3$
The full automorphism group of $U_6(2)$ is a group of the form $U_6(2){:}S_3$. The group $U_6(2){:}S_3$ has a maximal subgroup $2^9{:}(L_3(4){:}S_3)$ of order 61931520. In the present paper, we determine the Fischer-Clifford matrices (which are not known yet) and hence compute the character table of the split extension $2^9{:}(L_3(4){:}S_3)$.
متن کاملElementary 2 - Group Character
In this correspondence we describe a class of codes over GF (q), where q is a power of an odd prime. These codes are analogues of the binary Reed-Muller codes and share several features in common with them. We determine the minimum weight and determine properties of these codes. For a subclass of codes we nd the weight distribution and prove that the minimum nonzero weight codewords give 1-desi...
متن کاملTHE RATIONAL CHARACTER TABLE OF SPECIAL LINEAR GROUPS
In this paper we will give the character table of the irreducible rational representations of G=SL (2, q) where q= , p prime, n>O, by using the character table and the Schur indices of SL(2,q).
